fter turning in his uniform at the end of the season, William Fleming soccer player Nathaniel Scere, a senior, dribbles a soccer ball in the locker room one last time as his high school soccer career comes to an end. The William Byrd High School soccer team is made up of mostly African and South American players, many of whom are not native speakers of English. To a large extent, soccer is what keeps them together. It helps them learn English and it gives them a familiar outlet in an unfamiliar land.
